Amazon is getting ready to launch a second attempt to penetrate the rapidly expanding fashion and lifestyle e-commerce market in India, competing against Flipkart, which is owned by Walmart; Ajio from Reliance; and Meesho, an upstart funded by SoftBank.
The e-commerce behemoth has informed its partners that it will be launching a “special store,” named Bazaar, where it will not impose any “extra charges” on vendors offering unbranded and “trendy” fashion and lifestyle products.
According to the company's message, the products supplied through Bazaar will be priced under 600 Indian rupees, or $7.2. The corporation stated in the correspondence that users will find the products easily because they will be displayed in a dedicated Amazon store.
According to Amazon's statement, Bazaar would give vendors access to tens of millions of customers, "hassle-free" delivery, and no referral fees. Earlier this month, TechCrunch revealed that Amazon was seeking to increase its emphasis on fast fashion, citing job postings.
In an earlier Wednesday story, the Indian daily Economic Times mentioned Bazaar and mentioned that Amazon would probably provide two to three days of delivery for the new business.
Recently, India has seen growth in the fast-fashion e-commerce sector as local businesses have been influenced by global fast-fashion pioneers like as Zara, H&M, and Uniqlo. Leading player Flipkart is leading the category, but research firm Bernstein reports that Ambani's Ajio, which has accumulated roughly 30% of the market, is becoming a stronger competitor.
