A simple button designed to bring instant help and peace of mind when every second matters.
In Madison, Wisconsin, a local software company is changing how schools approach safety with a smart new invention, a wearable panic button created for K–12 students and staff.
Developed by Singlewire Software, the InformaCast Wearable Alert Badge is a small but powerful device built to summon help instantly during emergencies. With just one press, teachers or students can alert responders without needing to unlock a phone or open an app.
Company founder Paul Shain shared that the goal was to make safety as simple and instinctive as possible. “When an emergency happens, you don’t have time to think, you just press the button,” he said.
The badge includes two alert modes: one that provides detailed room and floor information to school personnel, and another that immediately connects with first responders during critical situations.
More than just a piece of technology, this device represents a new layer of reassurance for schools. As districts across the country search for better safety tools, Singlewire’s Madison-made innovation could soon become an essential companion, offering comfort, confidence, and quick access to help when it’s needed most.
