DeepL Expands Beyond Translation Software with AI Agent

DeepL debuts AI agent as it expands its translation software capabilities into automating business tasks and increasing efficiency across various industries.

German AI startup DeepL, which is known best for its advanced translation software, today announced the release of its first AI agent designed to streamline repetitive business tasks. The move is a massive step beyond traditional computer-assisted translations and provides companies with a tool to help automate workflows across sales, finance, HR, and localization teams.

The new DeepL Agent is able to autonomously extract insights, process invoices, or manage document translation approvals, thereby reducing manual workloads for knowledge workers. By marrying translation software know-how with agentic AI, DeepL sets itself up to contend with a wider breadth of enterprise AI players.

CEO and founder Jarek Kutylowski referenced DeepL's research-first approach, noting that the company's technology enables the agent to "understand, reason, and act" across a broad scope of tasks. The assistant is currently in beta testing with DeepL's enterprise customers, including KBC Bank and Taylor Wessing, and will go live once feedback integration is included in the tool.

By doing so, DeepL further establishes its foothold in the AI-powered productivity arena and continues to use its underlying translation software technology to better serve (or assist) businesses around the world.
