As of October 22, CoStar, which ran the numbers on hotels in Dubai, reported that bookings were 27% higher compared to last year, predicting a blockbuster end to the year.
Dubai will see more activity and higher prices on New Year's Eve than in the past.
The real estate and data analytics company CoStar, which ran the numbers as of October 22, reports that hotel bookings are 27% higher than they were the previous year. Several venues offer entertainment, food, and drink packages that run into the thousands of dollars.
It goes beyond New Year's, though. Hotel rooms for the global climate summit, COP28, are already filling up. The course runs from November 30 to December 12. The United Arab Emirates celebrates its National Day celebration with a three-day weekend that encourages a lot of staycations and other travel, so the weekend of December 2 is already typically busy there. Compared to 31% booked last year, 44% of Dubai hotels were already reserved for December 1 as of October 30.
Mansour Memarian, the hotel manager of Palazzo Versace, states that "the entire hotel industry expects a huge winter boom," although he acknowledged that there is some uncertainty due to the Israel-Hamas conflict. The hotel hosts an enormous party with a theme every New Year's Eve. Memarian created the sets and decorations for this year's production of Beauty and the Beast. Despite tickets costing up to 18,000 dirhams (4,901.09 USD) per pair for dinner by the pool, which comprises a five-course meal, house beverages, and a bottle of Champagne, he claims the hotel doesn't turn a profit on the entertainment.
