Uganda Hosts Agro Tech Conference Empowering Young Innovators

AYuTe NextGen 2025 in Uganda is young people-led agro tech innovations promoting sustainable agriculture with an entrepreneurship and technology transformation in Africa.

The AYuTe NextGen 2025 Conference was unveiled by the State Minister of Agriculture of Uganda, Dr. Bright Rwamirama, in championing the innovation of agro tech innovation through young African minds at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

On the occasion of a three-day summit organized by Heifer International, transformative agro tech solutions will be displayed to solve the current climate crisis through soil health, climate resilience, and market access. Rwamirama once again affirmed the policy enabling program, youth participation and sustainable technology in agriculture within Uganda.

He observed that adopting technology and fostering youth entrepreneurship are critical components for transforming the agricultural sector, as outlined in Uganda's National Strategy for Youth Employment in Agriculture.

It is also at the conference that the AYuTe Africa Challenge Uganda 2025 is held where standout agro tech innovators receive Shs222 million as funds, mentorship, and incubation support.

Uganda, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria presented young entrepreneurs with real-life agro tech startups that address the problem of smallholders. “Kampala” topped the ranks as the tech hub of Africa with Heifer CEO Surita Sandosham praising Kampala as the tech dynamic of Africa saying, “Africa is no longer under the shadow of innovation; we are the innovation story.”

Hosting more than 100 applicants in 10 countries, the event is equipping agro tech as a foundation in the future food system of Africa.
