MBZUAI and G42 introduce K2 Think, an AI-based EdTech platform, with ETIH 2026 awards honoring innovative education technology globally.
In cooperation with G42, the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi will roll out K2 Think, the state-of-the-art open-source reasoning model. It is an initiative that has the support of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and which is leaner and more efficient than larger AI models yet the same or even better performing.
Since it is an educational and research graduate university majoring in AI, MBZUAI plans to create a stronger presence of the UAE in the field of AI and EdTech innovation on a global level. Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI, underlined that K2 Think is one of the landmark breakthroughs to boost AI-driven learning and research in the region.
Meanwhile, the EdTech Innovation Hub Awards (ETIH) 2026 have begun submissions around the world and deliver pinnacles in education technology. The awards honor organizations and platforms leading the transformation with AI-based assessment, individualized learning and upskilling solutions, which bridge the gap between learners and practical outcomes.
ETIH 2026 awards aim at K-12 schools, institutions of higher learning, and lifelong learning platforms and the winners will be announced on the 14th of January 2026. The finalists will be featured in the print magazine BETT 2026, which highlights achievements in EdTech and digital learning worldwide.
The UAE is also proving itself as a pioneer in the fast-growing EdTech field by launching programs like K2 Think and ETIH, encouraging innovative solutions to elevate AI education, digital literacy, and career advancement globally.
