Online Food & Beverages Market Set to Double by 2030

The Google-Deloitte report predicts up to 163B in global e-commerce food and drinks growth in e-commerce by 2030 with personalization and non-alcoholic beverages as the drivers.

According to a new report by Google and Deloitte, the world market for e-commerce in food and beverage is expected to reach almost twice as much, that is, 163 billion dollars by the year 2030. Published in June 2025, the research refers to food and beverages as one of the online retailing segments that show the best growth rates, being fueled by ease of use and IT incorporation.

The sector has logistical challenges despite the growth particularly when it comes to perishable products. In 2024, online channel contribution to the world revenue of food and beverages was 5.2 percent. Although drinks are a leading contributor to online grocery sales in Europe, they have a tendency to be purchased impulsively, which pushes them toward the offline line of purchase.

According to the report, the increase in online food sales is expected to be 12 percent CAGR compared to beverages, which is 9.4 percent CAGR during 2025–2030. The non-alcoholic drinks would take the lead in the category with total sales of 32.4 billion dollars projected by 2030, leaving alcoholic drinks behind, with the issue of health consciousness and financial limitation as the cause.

The report also suggests that brands should replicate the impulse of in-store buying in their online strategies and utilize hyper-personalization approaches. Innovation will drive the move to omnichannel for food and beverages.
