World healthcare executives drive digital, AI-driven solutions to increase access, reduce waste, and build resilient health systems.
Leaders around the world are demanding a new generation of attention to the kind of healthcare systems that not only promote the health of the population but also leave inequality, poverty, and exposure to climate risks. With the increasingly stronger pressure of weak systems as a result of conflicts and natural disasters, the healthcare industry is becoming a compromising force in contributing to sustainable and fair development.
According to industry experts, a transformation of the healthcare system will need the cooperation of governments, providers, technology companies, and civil society. It is observed that digital and AI solutions constitute the path to the improved provision of better results on the minimum of resources, decreasing the waste of hospitals, energy use, and expenses.
Among the most intriguing is the predecessor of HeartPrint by Philips, which aims to increase the access of cardiovascular diagnostics to low- and middle-income countries at an affordable cost. The mobile-based screening tool was launched in 2024 and allows users to measure the main heart health indicators with the aid of a smartphone camera. It has already delivered the solution to over 250,000 people, which proves that scalable innovations can help make healthcare delivery more robust at the community level.
Other health systems, such as Northwell Health, are integrating technology with community-based models to reduce social vulnerability. In rural Guyana and Ukraine, collaborations based on digital platforms and telehealth networks are assisting in keeping continuity of care in times of discontinuity in climate and conflict-related disruption.
According to these professionals, the healthcare systems of the future need to incorporate equity, technology, and sustainability to enable a long-term resilient and collective prosperity.
