Karrier One and Iridium partnership promises reliable connections for devices in the world’s most remote regions.
Karrier One has joined forces with Iridium Communications, a global leader in satellite services, to extend Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity to places traditional networks can’t reach. The two companies recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to integrate Iridium’s satellite-powered IoT capabilities into Karrier One’s decentralized telecom infrastructure.
This partnership is set to be a game-changer for industries that rely on data from hard-to-reach areas. Using Iridium’s low-Earth orbit satellite network, businesses will now be able to track assets, monitor the environment, and connect devices—whether deep in the Arctic, far out at sea, or across deserts with no cell towers in sight.
“From environmental monitoring in the Arctic to asset tracking in the middle of the ocean, deployers can now build IoT solutions without worrying about coverage gaps,” said Samer Bishay, CEO of Karrier One. Tim Last, Iridium’s Executive Vice President, added, “Our pole-to-pole coverage ensures reliable connections everywhere, perfectly aligning with Karrier One’s mission to connect the unconnected.”
The collaboration opens doors for applications in shipping, oil and gas, and environmental research, offering reliable connectivity without expensive local infrastructure.
With this move, Karrier One shifts beyond its traditional focus on local cellular deployments and positions itself as a key player in global IoT. The companies plan to follow the MOU with a detailed agreement covering technical integration and commercial rollout.
