Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Expands Forensics and Law Expertise

Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr pumps up their law and forensics teams bringing in experienced investigators Annemari Krugel and Rimo Benjamin to the Johannesburg office.

Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (CDH) has added two white-collar and corporate investigations specialists to its Johannesburg office in Annemari Krugel and Rimo Benjamin who are experts in the field of forensics. Krugel comes in as a director and Benjamin as counsel both relocating to Rosehill Partners after serving at BDO Advisory Services.

Krugel, a veteran in law and the field of forensics, has more than 30 years of experience in anti-corruption compliance matters, fraud investigations, financial disputes and forensics technology. She was the first female board member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Board of Regents and South African chapter vice president. She served as a prosecutor with the South African Department of Justice in 1984 before working as a senior at top firms.

Benjamin has more than two decades of experience investigating cases of fraud, corruption, workplace improprieties, and financial crime, having worked throughout Africa, the UK and the US. His involvement in law started with his career in 2000 as a Deneys Reitz lawyer, followed by public and private leadership in investigations.

According to CDH CEO Brent Williams, the appointments strengthen its ability to provide strategic law and forensic services to meet the increasing corporate inquisition. Rishaban Moodley, head of dispute resolution, said the enhanced white-collar investigation capability will provide clients with end-to-end investigatory, advisory and litigation services.

This development is fueling the desire of CDH to play a part in the development of the world as a trusted authority in areas involving law, governance, and risk mitigation.
