Qatar’s Tourism Sector Records Strong Growth

Qatar has a strong luxury travel and tourism industry driven by international campaigns, event tourism, and premium experiences that enhance the level of destination appeal around the corner of the world.

Qatar has a highly successful luxury travel and tourism sector, which constitutes 8 percent, or about QR55 billion, of the GDP of the country in 2024. This is an increase of 14 percent compared to the year 2023 and on a path towards achieving the Tourism Strategy 2030 target of 10-12 percent.

Visit Qatar, an arm of Qatar Tourism, has also introduced international marketing campaigns, including Moments Made for You and stopover campaigns to key markets, namely, the UK, USA, China, and Australia. A combination of such efforts and other events, such as the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2025 and the Qatar International Food Festival, have increased the attractions of the country as a destination of luxury travel and tourism.

Prominent celebrity endorsement (a promotional film with David Beckham) also helped to display the combination of heritage, contemporary attractions, and natural glories in Qatar. The Qatar Toy Festival and events of its kind witnessed record attendance and further support the reputation of the nation as a high-value country.

As far as the future is concerned, Qatar is setting forth the operations of the 2025/2026 cruise season, the T100 Triathlon World Championship finals, the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, and the launch of the Michelin Guide Doha in 2026. Such projects are supposed to reinforce Qatar in the luxury tourism and travel industry in the global market to impart some unmatched experiences to the residents and tourists all through the year.
