Saudi spends millions on tech entertainment

Saudi Arabia is introducing innovative entertainment projects using modern technology for the upcoming event season, featuring major city-based events in Riyadh and Diriyah.

A plethora of innovative entertainment projects driven by modern technology are emerging in Saudi Arabia as the country prepares for another hectic event season that will feature major city-based events in Riyadh and Diriyah.

The Kingdom's most recent action occurred in October, when it declared that it would invest $55 million in HyperSpace, a Saudi business that has been operating for three years and creates digital theme parks inside retail malls.  HyperSpace raised most of its debt and stock from the Public Investment Fund, which was used to finance Riyadh Season, a government-backed entertainment project.

The US-based Galaxy Interactive, the UK-based Apis Venture Partners, and Georgia SEGA Ventures were among the other participants in the funding round.

HyperSpace offers a blend of virtual and real-world entertainment, such as interactive spaces for content production, immersive theatrical experiences, and gaming attractions.

As part of the fourth Riyadh Season, which is billed as the greatest winter entertainment event in the world, the firm inaugurated House of Hype, its newest location, in the nation's capital.

The new Riyadh House of Hype welcomes guests with bright, colorful phosphorescent lights as they enter various futuristically styled rooms.

Following which, guests can virtually immerse themselves in technology, play games, and even go shopping in what has been called the largest immersive entertainment park experience that links the real world and virtual reality.
