A new era of hypertension management arrives as the world’s first cuffless ring blood pressure monitor prepares for its British debut.
The days of bulky, arm-squeezing blood pressure cuffs might be numbered. Sky Labs has recently announced a major regulatory victory, securing medical device registration and marketing authorization from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for its groundbreaking ring blood pressure monitor, known as the CART PLATFORM.
Following its successful CE-MDR certification in Europe earlier this year, this latest approval provides a solid foundation for Sky Labs to bring its unobtrusive health technology to the United Kingdom. According to reports monitored by CIO Bulletin, the platform is more than just a wearable; it is a comprehensive ecosystem that includes the ring-type device, a mobile app, and a specialized web viewer designed for medical professionals to track patient data in real-time.
For over a century, blood pressure monitoring has relied on inflatable cuffs that can be uncomfortable and impractical for 24-hour use. The CART BP pro changes the narrative by offering a "cuffless" experience, allowing patients to monitor their vitals naturally throughout the day and night.
The device has already seen massive success in its home market of South Korea, where it is utilized in approximately 1,800 hospitals and clinics. This widespread adoption proves that the medical community is ready to embrace wearable tech that doesn't sacrifice clinical accuracy for comfort.
Securing MHRA approval is no small feat, as the agency maintains rigorous standards for safety and efficacy. By passing this hurdle, Sky Labs has demonstrated that its technology meets the highest global requirements.
"The fact that the world’s only cuffless ring-type blood pressure monitor has received medical device authorization from international regulatory agencies proves that our technology has been recognized by global standards," stated Jack Byunghwan Lee, CEO of Sky Labs.
As Sky Labs prepares to launch prescriptions through UK pharmacies and clinics, CIO Bulletin notes that this shift represents a significant paradigm change in chronic disease management, prioritizing patient convenience without losing the clinical depth required by doctors.
