Hariva Meditech Private Limited recently announced its plan of establishing a manufacturing unit with an investment of ₹200 crore at the Ujjain medical devices park. The company plans to manufacture critical care devices and medical technology products, including continuous glucose monitoring systems, vacuum-assisted wound closure systems, consumables and anesthesia products. The project would be set up in 20 acres of land and provide employment to about 560 people. A request to this effect has been examined and given the go-ahead by the relevant committee.
Furthermore, eight medical devices in the park that would commence operations in the current financial year are all set to manufacture products such as catheters, syringes, diagnostic kits, implants, and blood collection devices. These medtech manufacturing units are expected to generate investment of Rs 254 crore and offer jobs to nearly 2400 people. According to Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPDIC) executive director Rajesh Rathod, “Apart from new proposals like Hariva Meditech, several companies that have already been allotted land are in advanced stages of setting up their facilities. A number of these units are expected to go on stream within this year financial year, which will translate into actual production and employment on the ground.”
Moreover, several companies have expressed their intent to establish specific manufacturing plants within the park. For instance, CliniSupplies India Pvt Ltd will manufacture catherers and related devices, HC Lifeline will produce syringes and cannula, KRM Healthcare will manufacture diagnostic kits, among others. CIO Bulletin views this development as offering a fillip to medical device production and therefore, boosting the Medtech industry’s position in the Indian market.
