The Biden Administration said its allotting $28 million in funding to the Energy Auditor Training Program that helps states and territories implement clean energy and efficiency initiatives.

Through the DOE's SCEP, the Biden-Harris Administration announced the first funding round of the Energy Auditor Training Grant Program. The BIL funds this program as part of the program's investing in America agenda and provides over $21 million for advancing energy efficiency in communities across the United States.

The EAT program funds 15 State Energy Offices and the American Samoa Territorial Energy Office to build the green building workforce and advance clean energy solutions in residential and commercial sectors. Additionally, it aims to provide energy auditors with skills to conduct energy saving assessments. These efforts align with the goals of the BIL and the Inflation Reduction Act to advance sustainable energy in the United States.

In addition, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm pointed out that there is an increasing demand for energy efficiency workers and that this industry has already achieved 2 million jobs. The EAT program has a programmatic objections which coordinates with the Justice40 Initiative which targets 40% of federal clean energy expenditures into marginalized communities.

Georgia Environmental Finance Authority will receive nearly 2 million USD for the Southeast Commercial Energy Auditor Collaborative Partnership. Hawai’i is investing 900,000 USD in its Energy Auditor Training Program to enhance job opportunities and economic mobility.

Further, similar assistance in terms of funding will cover the development of energy auditors’ training in the states including Massachusetts, Nevada, and Minnesota with the goal of improving the quality of jobs and facilitating a clean energy transition.
