Auto Component Supplier Secures Major Orders and Plans Significant Investments

Uno Minda, a leading supplier of lighting, switching, acoustics, and seating solutions to global automobile companies, is intensifying its focus on electric vehicles (EVs) while launching new products and securing substantial orders. The company recently clinched orders for on-board chargers, battery management systems, motor controllers, and DC-DC converters, amounting to Rs 3,755 crore for FY24. Of these, Rs 2,510 crore are from two-wheeler manufacturers, with the remainder from passenger car makers.

In line with its growth strategy, Uno Minda plans to invest between Rs 1,300 crore and Rs 1,400 crore in the current financial year, with a total investment of approximately Rs 2,500 crore over the coming years. The company's lighting and light metal technology (LMT) divisions have been significant growth drivers. Lighting revenue soared by 44% year-on-year in the March quarter, fueled by the increasing adoption of app-controlled connected tail lamps by car makers and capacity expansion. The LMT segment also thrived, supported by strong demand for two-wheeler and four-wheeler alloy wheels.

Looking ahead, Uno Minda projects the value in the electric two-wheeler segment to rise to Rs 35,000 in FY25 from Rs 28,000 in the previous year. The company anticipates continued revenue growth through increased content per vehicle and further capacity expansion, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving automotive landscape.
