medAstra brings space-age healthcare innovations down to Earth

From orbit to operating rooms, medAstra’s technologies designed for astronauts aim to transform patient care on Earth.

medAstra, a spinoff of space-inspired healthcare innovator BioAstra, has stepped out of stealth mode with a mission to translate cutting-edge space health technologies for use on Earth.

BioAstra, known for its out-of-orbit research, develops “earth-independent healthcare solutions” to support humans in space, tackling challenges like microgravity while advancing digital health and remote monitoring. medAstra now aims to bring that same rigor and innovation to hospitals, clinics, and wellness programs worldwide.

The company plans to launch post-operative adherence kits, carefully designed modules that guide patients through pre- and post-surgery routines, reducing complications and improving recovery. For commercial spaceflight, medAstra will provide specialized medical and research inventory systems, adapted from equipment originally built for astronauts in microgravity. Additionally, the company will offer high-integrity systems for longevity medicine, preserving tests, samples, and supplements with precision.

Savi Glowe, CEO and cofounder of medAstra, emphasized the human-centered vision behind the technology: “Medical systems that keep astronauts safe in orbit can, and should, raise the standard of care on Earth. We built adherence tools to function in the chaos of microgravity. That same engineering discipline applies anywhere protocol failure isn’t an option.”

By bridging space science and everyday medicine, medAstra hopes to set new benchmarks in patient care, demonstrating that innovations born beyond Earth can profoundly improve lives here on the planet.
