WITT and WTA introduce the world to the Core Wellness Standards for hotels, redefining travel and hospitality with genuine, wholesome and sustainable wellness environments.
Wellness in Travel & Tourism (WITT) has just formed a partnership with the Wellness Tourism Association (WTA), and they are going to launch Core Wellness Standards for Hotels, which is a first in the travel and hospitality industry. It is the first wellness initiative, which begins to holistically incorporate true wellness into each guest experience.
These standards are informed by the 100+ certification standards of WITT, which centers on the following five pillars: healthy eating, holistic healing, nature, movement, and local impact. The measures that will be adopted by hotels include providing nutritious food, sleep-conducive settings, access to clean water, biophilic design, natural landscapes and green spaces, and access to culture and sustainability practices.
The Core Wellness Standards are designed to acknowledge the rising tensions of wellness-washing with a view to providing wellness travelers with reassurance in recognized standards as well as allowing hotels to differentiate in what is rapidly becoming a competitive travel and hospitality market.
Wellness travel is not a niche anymore; it has become a priority of millions, which is why the integration into the broader industry is a logical and a promising step, said Oxana Spivey, the VP of Wellness Standards & Development at WITT. WITT Founder and CEO, Ruiz, a former WTA President and CEO, said the alliance will guarantee transparency, standardization, and innovation in the wellness tourism industry.
This international program represents a new era of travel and hospitality, as it will secure the ability of hoteliers everywhere to provide credible, significant, and high-quality wellness opportunities.
