At RegTech Conference 2025, representatives highlighted how digital infrastructure promotes equal access to banking, boosts partnership between industries and encourages new ideas in the African financial world.

Experts at the 2025 RegTech Conference highlighted that using modern digital solutions is crucial for growing financial inclusion in Africa. Regulators, FinTechs, telecoms and governments were present at the event to talk about bringing different groups together to support financial inclusion.

World Bank data reported during the conference indicates that over a quarter of adults worldwide do not use a bank, while nearly half are underbanked. Experts said that stronger digital identification, compatible payments and understanding policies would play a crucial role in lowering these numbers.

Moderated by Uche Uzoebo, CEO of Shared Agent Network Expansion Facilities (SANEF), the panel named “From Borders to Bridges” showed why RegTech helps achieve greater clarity, efficiency and joint effort among sectors. Uzoebo pointed out that women need targeted assistance and help with digital issues and cultural problems in finance.

Jacqueline Mpare from Ecobank gave an overview of programs that assist women entrepreneurs financially and with additional support. Aliyushata emphasized that financial knowledge should be included in schools’ curricula.

They believed that collaboration, harmonized laws and one payment system are key RegTech answers for affordable payments between countries and better financial inclusion.

SANEF received the 2025 Financial Literacy Champion award at the RegTech Awards for boosting its network of agents and educating Nigerians about finance.

At the conference, it was agreed that RegTech is essential for making financial systems more open and useful to customers.
