Zomato has introduced its recently launched District app in the market for both iOS and Android users, which is an extension of the company’s target market within the dining and entertainment sectors of the food industry. This web application enables clients to book tables, purchase tickets to the cinema and book for theatrical, sporting, and many other events, all in one application.
Zomato's new feature aims to engage customers post-meal, steering away from over food delivery. The acquisition of Paytm's entertainment business for ā¹2,048.4 crore shows Zomato's entry into the entertainment booking sector. The District app by Zomato offers reservations for dining events and other entertainment services in one convenient platform. Zomato strives to provide a comprehensive entertainment experience for its users.
Zomato's mobile app now offers Zomato Events for restaurants, movies, concerts, and live performances. This move could challenge competitors like BookMyShow in India's ticketing sector. CEO Deepinder Goyal also said Zomato's dine out segment is profitable with 100 percent year on year revenue growth, and gross order value in excess of $500 million every year. The focus on the District app is expected to drive additional growth for the company.
While providing better and effortless booking services, Zomato has come up with another feature that aims to cut down food wastage whereby cheap prices for meals that were ordered and cancelled are made before delivery happens, further reinforcing the company’s aim to enhance the food and beverage industry as a whole.
