With 35.16 GW of renewable energy capacity, Gujarat leads the nation and supports new advances in clean energy solutions guided by its leaders.
According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national plan, India has turned to Gujarat for leading renewable energy programs that are focused on reaching net zero by 2070.
There is presently 35.16 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity installed in Gujarat, as indicated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), by April 30, 2025. The state generates the most energy from wind (13.51 GW), continues to use smaller rooftop solar (5.31 GW) and is the second-largest for energy from solar (19.42 GW).
Innovative storage solutions for clean energy are being sped up in Gujarat under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. GUVNL has made arrangements with batteries totaling 1,192 MW/4,777 MWh and is considering 32 GW worth of additional pumped storage installations.
Last year, close to 32,790 million units of renewable energy were produced in Gujarat which is around 22% of the state’s total need for power. The state installed 5.9 GW of new generating equipment during the year, making its energy mix stronger. Gujarat is still driving India’s shift to clean energy by setting an example for other states.
