India conducted an essential discussion about pumped storage ventures which aims to stabilize the national power grid and integrate more renewable power throughout the country.
The SCOPE Complex in New Delhi hosted a significant high-level discussion about “Pumped Storage Projects: Powering India’s Renewable Future” to develop the country’s renewable energy systems. The collaborative organizers included THDC India Ltd together with the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) as well as NTPC and CBIP and INCOLD.
More than 300 stakeholders comprising senior officials together with investors and energy experts took part in the session. Participants worked to accelerate the development of pumped storage projects (PSPs) for helping connect large volumes of renewable energy to the national grid system.
Through his participation at the event Pankaj Agarwal (IAS) emphasized the importance of adaptive power solutions for grid stability maintenance. He appealed to states for the implementation of independent sub-regional energy models. Additional Secretary (Hydro) Akash Tripathi (IAS) stressed the need for stakeholders to unite because PSP rollouts require immediate attention.
M.G. Gokhale from the CEA predicts that PSP projects totaling 3 GW will be built in India by 2025-26 with the 1,000 MW Tehri Variable Speed Pumped Storage Project at their forefront. Gurdeep Singh the NTPC CEO emphasized that energy storage capability is necessary to establish renewable power systems as reliable electricity sources. R.K. Vishnoi from THDC emphasized that automation systems and joint teamwork are fundamental for improving PSP development process.
A session featured regulatory together with technical and financial panels for PSPs. The event solidified PSPs as vital infrastructure that benefits renewable energy stability and enables India to reach its net-zero targets.
The discussion centered on renewable energy as the core topic during this session while moving India closer to its path of sustainable energy development.
