ENGIE and Apple Seal Italian Clean Energy Deal

ENGIE and Apple enter into a PPA to boost clean energy capacity in Italy with wind and solar power.

ENGIE has entered into a 15-year renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple in order to develop clean energy in Italy. The collaboration will finance the development of new wind farms and agrivoltaic parks in Southern Italy, where the addition of the total amount of clean power generation is 173 MW.

The project consists of two new wind farms (74 MW), a repowered wind site (11MW) and two agrivoltaic wind plants (88 MW). When these clean energy installations become operational (between 2026 and 2027), they are likely to produce over 400 GWh of electricity every year. Approximately 80 percent of the clean energy production will cater to the operations of Apple, with the remaining power to supply the national grid, which can provide sufficient power to support nearly 30,000 homes.

ENGIE has mentioned that the project will contribute to preventing more than 160,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, which once again emphasizes the sustainability of both companies. The agreement informs about the increasing international list of renewable PPAs of ENGIE, as well as its contribution to the rapid pace of transition to clean energy.

ENGIE is planning to increase its clean energy and storage through the addition of the 1.6 GW portfolio by 2030 in Italy, which builds on its current portfolio of 773 MW of wind power, solar, and battery projects.
